Waru is a leading provider of heritage services in Western Australia. Our main focus is Indigenous heritage. We also have considerable expertise in heritage audits, historical archaeology, maritime archaeology and historical research.
Waru is built upon the experience and knowledge of Joe Mattner who has worked in the the field of archaeology since 1991, and who holds a BSc (Hons) and an MA, both in archaeology, as well as a Grad. Dip. in Aboriginal Studies. All work is conducted under his direction, and Joe still is very hands-on in all aspects of the work.
Waru also engages highly experienced and very capable professionals to assist on projects when required. They include some of the most experienced anthropologists, ethnographers, rock art specialists and archaeologists currently working in Western Australia.
